Delaware's Foremost Paranormal Investigative Team
Evidence: Fort Delaware

Location: Fort Delaware – Pea Patch Island, DE
Date of Investigation: September 27, 2008
On September 27, 2008, Delaware Ghost Hunters became the third paranormal investigation group to step onto the soil of Pea Patch Island, Delaware for an extremely rare ‘overnight’ investigation. Accompanied by 2 other local paranormal groups, PIMA (Paranormal Investigators of the Mid-Atlantic) and BMPS (Blue Mountain Paranormal Society); Delaware Ghost Hunters vowed to leave leave no stone unturned.
Below is our evidence, as we presented to Fort Delaware.
EVPs
‘Hello’ – Amplified sound clip of a distant ‘hello’ while in the Endicotts.
‘The Lights’ – This is recorded in the endicott’s of Fort Delaware. When the entity is asked to approach the lights of the KII, you hear a confirmation in return.
‘Voice 1′ – Recorded in the laundry room of the Officer’s Quarters, a voice saying something we can’t quite make out.
‘Voice 2′ – Again, recorded in the laundry room of the Officer’s Quarters… it’s another voice we can’t quite make out.
‘Whistling’ – A DGH favorite, recorded during an EVP session in the laundry room of the Officer’s Quarters. No investigators were whistling or singing at the time. Out of 2 recorders present in the room, this is the only one to pick this sound up.
The Bang – Recorded in the kitchen of the officer’s quarters during an EVP session. The sound you hear is the door in the other room slamming shut on its own. (video of the EVP session to come shortly)

October 16, 2010 We visited the fort.. A beautiful evening out. We found no hard evidence of Paranormal activity. The K-2′s were giving us readings…..but I think it was from the people in our group who did not turn off their cell phones……because every once in a while…..you could hear one vibrate. I think a small group of 2-3 would be better then a noisy group of 11. A very dissappointing adventure for me personally…..because I had a very personal paranormal experience when I was a kid…..ON the ISLAND!

Im going on the ghost tour tonight at 8 o’clock; and I really hope to have such an encounter. I’ve always been eager to capture some evience and actually encounter a remarkable situation like it. Im only 11 (going on 12); but that doesn’t change my intrest in Paranormal Activity…… Ill post tomorrow if I find any cool stuff!!!!
Oh, and this is my 3rd time visiting the Fort. I visited the first time in May on a class field trip, the 2nd time in mid-June while my Aunt and Uncle visited from the middle of the country; and I am SO super excited for tonight. Though I am a coward, so I’ll probably run out of the endicotts (I feel so claustrophobic and srange in there) like I did last time. :p
Well, wish me luck!!!

Hey this was our first time to the Fort DE Oct 29th 2009 7 pm tour and a few interesting things happened. First in the Endicott my Girlfriend was walking hand in hand with me and in one of the dark walkways something hit her left elbow, she immediately asked me if I hit her elbow and I told her and she saw that both of my hands were in front of me, She checked with a flashlight to make sure there were no wet marks on her coat since there were drops of water leaking though the ceiling and her coat was dry no wet mark and at the same time a young girl asked her mother if she ran her fingers thru her hair because she felt like someone did. and after coming home and just browsing thru our photos and Video recording we found a few unexplained things one which is a voice we picked up …so overall it was a interesting experience. thanks guys

Kathryn, I can promise you it’ll be VERY legit. No strings, sounds, or anything ‘fishy’.
I can also promise you that many DGH members are as skeptical (if not more) as you. I’d say maybe 2 people in our whole group are solid believers… and the rest of us annoy them with questions, it’s VERY entertaining to be a fly on the wall during our evidence analysis. I question everything, EVERYTHING. The evidence the group posts, we post because we can not explain it. We try to shy from saying it’s ghost activity… yet we do hold out hope that one day we can say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we have 100% solid proof of the paranormal, but all groups hope for that. So I don’t know if you’ll ever be convinced, I’ve seen things I can’t explain, yet I’m still not convinced. I still question every personal experience I have had.

Looking forward to your investigation on 10/17. Hoping that it will be educational and professional. We were at the Fort in Aug and actually met one of your investigators. I’ve had a couple personal experiences but i remain on the fence. I’m hoping that the investigation will be legit as I am very curious but still not convinced.

I agree with you guys completely. In all honesty those ‘investigations’ are supposed to be more-so to give a small fright as opposed to produce any hard evidence of the paranormal. The Fort has the best intentions to produce paranormal evidence (as exemplified here).
EVPs are a VERY hard thing to prove. With the whistling, we have video of the room during the activity, and you can clearly see no one is whistling and they act as if they never heard it. Granted, the camera didn’t have audio setup (IR Camera run to a DVR) so I didn’t think of posting it here; however if you feel it’ll help I’d gladly do so.
I urge you all to take a look at the October paranormal investigations happening at the Fort this October. I can PROMISE you that it’ll be professionally run. There will be no ‘dancing or singing’ on cue. It’ll be legit investigations, no plants, no false hits, 100% para-hunt. It’ll be like fishing in the dark, you’re honestly more likely to not get a ‘bite’, but it’s the thrill that counts. We’ll teach you the equipment, our techniques, and you’ll use them yourself as we hunt the Fort. Being in the Fort with all the lights killed, walking the grounds with nothing but a flashlight, sitting in silence in rooms that used to ring loud. It’s going to be nothing short of fantastic.
Seriously though, if you are interested I’d call Fort Delaware to reserve a ticket now, as they are pre-selling, and selling quickly.

I can see where Paul is coming from – some things that pass as EVPs, even on ghost hunters, are more static than voice, and I don’t know how they come up with an interpretation. I’d just toss them. However, you do also get the voices that sound “distant” yet are recorded close to the microphone, and that have strange intonations, making them sound “sing-song”, and that sometimes express things that just don’t make sense. They are not reflected noises or distortions – they’re something else, and they can be occassionally creepy. I also can appreciate what Kathleen has to say about that tour – I was on the same one, and she’s correct in her impressions of what happened. There were also too many people jammed in there during an investigation that was too short – and I don’t accept ghosts singing and dancing as if on cue. A six-hour investigation minus the highschoolers with smaller groups would be much more productive.

I went on the ghost tour at Fort DE on Aug 1st. I went with the tech group, and the older gentleman that led the group was good. I think he was knowledgeable, not too overdramatic and serious. However, I didn’t not like the Fort DE staff that went along. Especially the young man that went along with the Tech guy during the 6pm tour. I thought he was way too excited, overdramatic, he kept talking about what happened the night before. He kept saying he was “sensitive” and acted like he had personal relationships with the spirits that roam the fort. He also was too excited over the knocking experiment, when it was actually the wind rattling the windows. Anyone standing next to the window, including myself knew that. But he went overboard, not debunking it, and getting overly excited the spirits were communicating with him. When the reveal comes for the overnight investigation I am definitely interested in that, wholeheartedly. But I really think the Fort staff, especially the younger highschool kids, need not be there, and only the delaware ghost hunters professional staff. The highschool kids are too dramatic and would ruin the evening in my opinion.

EVPs are hard to prove. It’s really a ‘you have to be there’ sort of evidence. We post them, because they are hard to explain, because people do believe them. Then again, any evidence now can be easily ‘debunked’. With Photoshop, AfterEffects, etc any evidence, short of seeing it with your own eyes, or hearing it with your own ears, can be debating as false evidence. Thin is the line of proof, you know?
With that said… stay tuned to DGH.com, as we will be posting some VERY exciting news concerning Fort Delaware in the VERY near future… you may very well be getting to do the investigation of your dreams.

I’ve always wanted to go to Fort Delaware at night and I was looking for investigations there, which is how I came to your site. The TAPS investigation was good.
I’m a little disappointed though. I don’t believe in EVP. Things that could be voices and distant noises are unconvincing. Sound can travel in weird ways, and audio recorders can distort noise on their own. I wish you could have gotten something more, with all the other equipment that you brought along. I wouldn’t be convinced from this that Fort Delaware was haunted.

The whistling, if authentic, is by far the most dramatic and thought-provoking of all of the evp’s listed here. It’s stronger and clearer than any of the “voices” and, if I had been on site, and I knew empirically that it was a properly controlled evp session and that no one heard any such thing at the time, and I found it on my recorder the next day – it would creep me out. (At least a little

Who was the older guy leading the investigations with the tour groups on 8/1/2009 in the fort? He said there would be a reveal on this site. Thanks.
